Three DIY Valentine’s Day Crafts You Can Do Yourself

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. If you’re looking for some fun and easy way to make your home more festive for the occasion, we’ve got you covered. Thanks to our friends at Real Simple, we’ve got three fabulous, and easy, DIY Valentine’s Day crafts to help you share the love and make your home more festive. And the best part? You don’t need a bunch of special supplies or oodles of time to get these cute crafts finished.

1.       Paper Flower Wreath

A colorful wreath in pinks, reds, and white is perfect for Valentine’s Day. This paper flower wreath can be made in must three simple steps.

What you’ll need:

Scissors

Tissue paper (any color, but we recommend reds and pinks)

Floral wire

Styrofoam wreath

Hot glue gun

Instructions:

1.       Cut tissue paper into 8”x6” rectangles. Stack 4-6 pieces of tissue paper on top of one another. Make ½” to 1” accordion fold creasing with each fold.

2.       Fold floral wire and put over center of folded tissue and twist.

3.       With scissors, trim ends of tissue into rounded or pointy shapes. Separate layers one at a time. Hot glue tissue flowers onto styrofoam wreath.

2.       Paper Garland Strands

Get the kids involved to make a bright paper garland. Try new shapes and colors to add more creativity.

What you’ll need:

Assorted paper

Needle and thread

2” scalloped shaped hole punch

Instructions:

1.       Fold 3” to 6” paper squares in half and cut a half heart from the fold.

2.       Thread need and string hearts together through the top center of the folded paper hearts.

3.       Using scalloped hole punch, make shapes from paper. Thread needle and string through the opposite sides of each scalloped paper.

4.       Add as many hearts and scallops as it take to reach your desired length.

3.       Frame with Chalkboard Paint

Now you’ll have a place to put all those beautiful drawings your little darlings bring home from school.

What you’ll need:

Frame

Chalkboard paint

Chalk

Newspaper

Instructions:

1.       Place frame on newspaper in a well-ventilated area. Paint frame and let it dry. Paint frame and let it dry.

2.       Using chalk, write a special Valentine’s Day message on the frame.
